FAQ

When is the deadline for submissions?

Most provinces are July 1st.

The Atlantic Championships and Alberta are August 1st, 2012.

I do not live in Canada, can I still compete?

Yes, you can but if you win, you must represent Canada at the worlds.  You may not represent two different countries and you must not hold more than one location specific title in the same year.  For example you cannot be the Canadian Pole Fitness Champion and Miss Pole Dance UK in the same year even if you are not competing in the Worlds.

How do I apply?

Click on Apply Now under Competitions.  This will take you to a Paypal page.  Once you pay your application fee you will be redirected to a page that will give you directions on how to submit your information.

If I want to apply to two divisions do I have to pay twice?

Yes, you will need to pay $25 for each division but you only need to send in one video unless of course, one is for doubles.

If we are applying for doubles, do both people need to pay an application fee?

No, only one payment of $25 is necessary.

How do we know what division to apply for?

You can apply for the division you think you should be in.  If we feel  you should be in a different one, we will let you know.

What is the difference between the divisions?

Professional Division:

* You can flawlessly execute advanced pole tricks and combos.
* You can deadlift or press into the moves without jumping or relying on mementum.
* You transitions are graceful and smooth.
* The winner of the professional division will move to the worlds and go up against other professional competitors.

Semi-Pro:

*You can execute advanced pole tricks and combos.
* You can do a minimum of 3.5 minutes on the pole witout stopping.
* The difference between Semi-Pro and pro is the level of advanced moves and perhpaps your transition or dance is not completely flawless.

Amateur:

*  You can do inversions.
*  You can do a minimum of 3.5 minutes on the pole without stopping.
*  The difference between Semi-Pro and Amateur is the level of moves that you can do on the pole.  You must be able to invert and do some combo’s but you may still be working on advance moves and you may need to regrab or rely a little on momentum as opposed to pure strength.

Are the Poles attached to the ground or are they on stage poles?

The poles are attached to both the floor and the ceiling, they are not stage poles.

Are the poles static or spinning?

Each Province may be different but the Nationals will always have one static pole and one spinning pole.  Equal time must be spent on both so you can not favour one pole over the other.

How long does my submission video have to be?

Between 3 and 5 minutes.  There cannot be any editing.  It does not have to be the same routine you will do for the competition and it does not have to have the same music.  It is just to prove what category you should be in.  So if you are an amateur, take a breather if needed, it will not effect anything.

Why can’t we edit our video?

If you were to just do all your best moves and edit in between, we may assume you should be in a higher category.  We need to see what you can do continuously for a minimum of 3 minutes.

I can’t make my Provincial date, what should I do?

If you can’t make the date of your Province, you may submit to any other province.  If you can’t make any of the provinces, you can submit to Wild Card but only the live Provincial competitions will offer flights and accommodation.

Can we apply for Wildcard and a Regional?

Yes, you can apply to both Wildcard and a Regional division as this will give you two chances at gaining a spot in the nationals.  Please remember that only the live regional will offer flight and accommodation as the grand prize in the Pro Division.

If I win the Amateur Division of my regional do I get my travel paid for?

No, only the winner of the Pro Division at a live regional competition will get their airfare and accommodation paid for.
