History

The first ever World Championship in Pole was held in Amsterdam in 2005 in which Tammy Morris won both 1st Runner up and Best Pole Tricks. After the competition Tammy was offered the licence to hold the Miss Pole Dance Canada Competition and after some thought decided that the growth of the industry was more important than her own personal desires to compete. The first competition was held in a nightclub and then in an Exotic Lounge strictly from lack of funding.

In 2011 Tammy Morris decided to seek proper sponsorship in order to take it out of the club and in to a theater. 2011 was the first year at the Vogue Theater in Vancouver British Columbia. Each year the competition improves and in 2012 the name was changed to The Canadian Pole Fitness Competitions which would introduce Provincial Pre qualifying rounds. Not only are regionals staring to happen but also more divisions have been added including a Men’s and Masters (over 40) division.

It is Tammy’s purpose to create an unbiased platform for Pole enthusiasts to compete on regardless of the studio they represent. It is also her intent to make sure that everyone gets this opportunity without the expense of travelling, hence the regional divisions being created. We hope that one day there will be events running from one end of the country to another giving every Canadian an opportunity to compete locally.
