Registration:
To register to become a Pole Fitness Instructor with the CPFA you must:
1. Possess a current CPR/First Aid certificate.
2. Have taken Fitness Theory or equivalent (and provide a certificate)
If you are registered with a Provincial Fitness Board (please see list at the bottom of this page) or you have a certification in gymnastics (NCCP) or circus you can submit that instead of 1 & 2.
3. Have a minimum of 24 teaching hours.
4. Have taken a certification module in your specialty. (If you have been teaching Pole Fitness for an extended period of time and you have never taken a certification course you are welcome to challenge the exam.)
One you have completed steps 1 to 4 you must:
5. Take the written National Exam and achieve a minimum of 80% ($25)
6. Teach a one hour class to be evaluated by a Registered Pole Fitness Leader or send in your video to the CPFA for evaluation. ($75)
* Once these have been done, you may register with the Canadian Pole Fitness Association and you will be listed as a qualified and educated Instructor in your area which is good for one year. You will then have an option to purchase insurance.
Insurance options:
1 million = $235
2 million = $270
3 million = $295
5 million = $360
Your studio may require you to have a minimum so please check with the studio owner. We recommend a 3 million minimum.
Classifications:
There are three levels of Pole Fitness Instructors:
1. Pole Fitness Instructor 1 – Beginner/Intermediate: This classification is for upright moves and holds only.
2. Pole Fitness Instructor 2 – Intermediate/Advanced: This classification is for inversions and advanced holds. You must get your PFI1 first.
3. Pole Fitness Leader – All levels: This classification is for instructors that have completed both PFI1 and 2 and teach workshops, offer certification courses and evaluate potential instructors. To register to be a PFL please email us at info@canadianpolefitnessassociation.com.
Renewing:
*To renew each year you must obtain 8 Continuing Education Credits and maintain a minimum of 48 teaching hours in each of your specialties per year.
*Continuing Education workshops will be listed on the CPFA website but can also be found through Provincial Associations which are listed at the bottom of this page.

– Saskatchewan Parks and Rec. Association Fitness Division (SPRA)
– Quebec: Check with your local YM/YWCA Fitness Department for provincial information
Studio – $75 per year
